Dubai has got a big variety of architectural styles.
On the one hand, we have got a traditional Islamic architecture. On the other hand, we have got the modern Islamic architecture planed by engineering design firms such as Al Hashemi and Aedas, and several important firms of New York and Chicago.
BURJ KHALIFA
Dubai has suffered a big “boom” in new leveled skyscrapers. As a result of that, in 2010 they achieved the tallest building with 829’8 metres called Burj Khalifa or Khalifa Tower, the world’s tallest man-made structure. It’s an abstract version of the desert flower called hymenocallis, which has its origins in Dubai’s region.
PALM ISLAND
There are two artificial islands in Dubai, the Palm Jumeirah island and the Palm Jebel Ali island, and both of them look like palm trees if you look at them from above. It is a large residential are composed of leisure and entertainment centres and 520 kilometres of private beaches.
BURJ AL ARAB
Burj Al Arab is a 7 star luxury hotel located on the Palm Jumeirah artificial island. It is connected to Dubai by a private bridge. It’s an imitation of the sail of a traditional Arab dhow, that represents Dubai’s urban development. It’s 321 metres tall and it has got 60 floors, becoming the world’s tallest hotel until Rose Rayhaan by Rotana was built at the end of 2009, also in Dubai. Although nowadays it’s not the tallest hotel, it’s the most expensive with a prize of 1000$ per night in a suite and 28000$ in the royal suite.
During the light house, the white curtains and furniture offers a soft milky light inside the hotel and maintain a proper temperature.
It’s completed by two main restaurants: Al Muntaha, to which you access by a panoramic elevator and Al Mahara, to which you accedd by a simulation of a submarine voyage.
